Wilson "Tony" Clyburn, originally from Aiken, SC, is the son of William and Beverly Clyburn. As the son of educators and public servants, education was always a priority. After graduating Aiken High School with Honors, he attended University of South Carolina and eventually transferred to Bethune-Cookman University and University Miami where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Physics.
After college, Tony taught General Science, Physics, Calculus, Algebra, and Spanish for Public and Private schools in Washington, DC, Danville, VA, and Aiken, SC, until he decided to pursue a Law Degree from Charleston School of Law. After Graduating from Charleston School of Law in May of 2009, Tony worked in Washington, DC with Clyburn Consulting, a lobbying firm started by his older brother, William, with local governments, commercial transportation, and alternative energy companies as primary clients.
In 2014 he decided to move back to Aiken, SC to work with the University of South Carolina at Aiken as Director of Pacer Pathway, a Bridge Program for students looking to qualify for permanent admissions. Finally, in November of 2018, Tony accepted a position as County Administrator for Dillon County, where his focus has become Community Outreach, efficiency, accountability, and moving Dillon County forward as hub of Employment and Industry for the Pee Dee Region.
Tony has served in numerous roles in community and public service, including the Royal Aikenites Scholarship Committee, NAACP Youth and College Division, The St. Matthews AME Church Community Development Board, and other community activities. He is also a member of Cumberland AME Church in Aiken, SC, and a proud member of the Sigma Pi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
